When you write for magazines or blogs, you receive lots of unsolicited promos. Sometimes (often) they suck, but sometimes a little gem is hiding in there. Here is a short selection of the latest ones, two of them coming from my fave mailing list by Wagmüller PR.

Let’s start with the freshest indie rock LP I have heard in a while. Koala Voice are from Slovenia and sport an über cool front-woman, and their latest album, Woo Horsie, has a bit of punk, and a bit of ska in there too, each track has its own story or musical

And more colourful and uplifting music for you, some accessible modern jazz with a Moroccan flair (and vocals) and an old-school psychedelic twist from supergroup Web Web on their new album Dance of the Demons. Some tracks are more made to chill, and others will have you sing along, get up and dance around the house.

Moving to something more ambient, lyrical, and eerie, Northwest’s music is softly falling snowflakes turned into music. Do yourself a favor, sit back, relax and take in the delicate melodies and orchestration of their first album I, float away on the soft vocals while the piano tells you a love story.
And finally, some cinematic synth-pop by Sleep Thieves who have been around for some years, but it was this recent track Sea of Shadows that got me to take a better look at this band. And from there and the YouTube rabbit hole, I fell on the Is This Ready video from 2017, haunting.
