For many of us, we close our eyes to get taken away from a sense of reality and we lose ourselves in our own minds simply by shutting off the outside world. As our minds are only visible to ourselves, nobody can imagine how one really feels or what is seen when they take that moment to just close their eyes. For Shreveport, Louisiana’s own shimmer pop band Hydrogen Child, we get a glimpse into their mind for that very private moment with their latest video “Close Your Eyes.”
The video takes you through forests and swamps of the deep south as lead singer Ansley Hughes follows her path back home or perhaps to a place of comfort in her life. The video has a very dreamlike feel as the piano carries the band through a dark, misty, humid path. Once the heavy bass of the chorus hits with purple lights, bubbles, and wind of the night on her face, it doesn’t seem real. Suddenly she realizes that the love she had was right in front of her all along. With each blur of the camera reality is becoming out of focus and they’re starting to understand themselves. The video is beautifully done in a very serene setting. I hope to one day have the chance to visit so I clear my head there as well.
Keep Hydrogen Child on your radar. Their new EP Sirens is due out June 23.

I love this group and the voice of Ansley Hughes. I have seen them twice in Marshall, Tx and will continue to make an effort to see them every time they play in and around the area. Ansley is a sweet person to talk to and I wish them the BEST!
