Growing old is something we can all relate to, and Bear Hands’ anthem to enjoying life with a more mature outlook will speak to many both lyrically and musically. Instead of drinking to forget, it’s all about ‘drinking to forget how old we are’.
There’s a danger of novelty with such a subject matter, especially with a slight nerdy/college rock style vocal delivery at the heart of it. However, there’s a neat, inoffensive electronic pulse throughout which, unlike a dodgy uncle, has enough credibility to be chosen for your party list.
“2am” is taken from their forthcoming album, You’ll Pay for This, out April 15
