We focus on London today and fortunately it’s not for general election reasons. We have two soulful electronic slices from the capital which certainly get our vote.
Check them out!
Hugh – “Go”
While Hugh is a four-piece, it’s the duel vocalists Joshua Idehen and Izzy Brooks who get the attention in the video for new single, “Go”. Flitting between young and actual versions of themselves, we see them performing simple but suitable choreography in the school gym.
It’s a cute idea which adds extra charm to what is already an infectious electro pop song. The female/male vocal adds a bit of drama, and while the synth sounds threaten a dark and moody vibe, it is the retro elements that dominate making it uplifting and memorable. If you want more, their debut album, Love, Hugh is out on Thursday.

VŌS – “Patience”
The first original release from London duo VŌS is one of this month’s highlights. Simultaneously understated and edgy, it’s an irresistible masterclass in seduction and production. Despite having many studio tricks up its sleeve, the song isn’t swamped by them and it is quite refreshing in its moreish clarity. It starts off a little low key but when it kicks in it’s a glorious weave of textured synths and teasing percussion. If you like modern electro-soul in the vein of Banks then VŌS are an act to keep an eye on.
