Stephen Shares Overwatch-Inspired Single & Video “TRACER”

LA-indie electronic artist Stephen has revealed “TRACER,” the 2nd single from his forthcoming album Akrasia, due out on August 21st. The song takes a dip into Stephen’s more experimental side, and chronicles his gaming addiction that was developed during his Lyme disease recovery. It’s a thumping, aggressively fun track — definitely left of center from what we’re used to from Stephen. The video features footage from Kabaji, the #1 Overwatch player in the world.

“I discovered Overwatch while I was sick with Lyme,” Stephen says. “At the time there was so much out of my control, and this game was my means of escaping into a world I could control. No matter how bad my symptoms got, I could always flick the game on and lose myself in this competitive fantasy. It became a problem when I started getting better. A year had gone by, I was physically able to get back to my life, but I didn’t want to address how uninspired I was. The game became a compulsive escape from my situation and a means of procrastination.”

Keep an eye out for more new music, followed by Stephen’s sophomore album Akrasia. For now, listen to TRACER below and watch the official video.
