Patrick Wolf – Night Songs and Re-Materializing

The undeniable Patrick Wolf may have fallen off the collective radar recently between an intentional sabbatical and recovering from a serious auto accident, but Wolf is the sort of artist that never has to re-introduce himself into the public consciousness with fireworks and fanfare. The singer’s fanbase is devoted enough that any stirrings and signs of life signal exciting things to come, and Wolf certainly picks his projects in line with his aesthetic.

Eccentric festival production group In Between Times recently embarked on a project entitled Night Songs, where IBT commissioned songs from selected musicians to be performed at night in any one of four foreboding, gothic mansions.

Situated in the Tyntesfield mansion and surrounded by old paintings and beautiful antiques, Wolf once again returns to his trademark multi-instrumental sound, turning out vocals that sound perfectly at home in their eerie surroundings. If this is a hint at future efforts from Wolf, we can only be excited at what’s to come.  Check out “S.O.S” below.
