The emerging Chicago-based alt-rock band Empires have unveiled a new track off their forthcoming album, Orphan. With a driving beat and vocals reminiscent of a young David Bowie, the brooding, atmospheric “Honeyblood” is an awesome track that just makes me more excited to hear the album in its entirety. Orphan, the band’s major label debut, is set to drop on September 23rd, via Chop Shop/Island Records.
In fact, 2014 is proving to be a year of major milestones for the band. After the release of their How Good Does It Feel EP this summer, Empires made their network television debut on Late Night with David Letterman, performed at both Bonnaroo and Hangout Music Festival, and landed a spot on the upcoming EA Sports NHL 2015 game with their single “How Good Does it Feel.”
With new music ready to drop, Empires kick off a fall tour with a show at the legendary Los Angeles Troubadour on September 17. The national tour will also see the band play shows at Midpoint Music Festival and Austin City Limits. Empires is clearly a band on the move – and a band from whom we expect big things as they take their well-deserved spot on the national stage. Fans can pre-order Orphan directly from Empires’ official website. The album will be available via all major digital retailers on September 23.
