For those who remember the 1984 smash hit by Laura Branigan “Self Control”, you’ll fall in love with it again thirty years later thanks to Sy Boccari & David Lee Rotten better known as Naked Highway.

With a purely Naked Highway take on the pop classic, the song is met with synth/key tones and a naughty guitar which lends a vintage meets modern take on the track, very classic new wave meets modern electro/glam pop. Many would agree that if you are going to cover a classic, you must make it your own. Naked Highway made it that and much more. For a song with such provocative overtones, the cover will make it easily back into its rightful home in the clubs across the globe just begging for you to lose your own “Self Control” among the creatures of the night. When discussing the reasoning for covering the song Sy Boccari said, “’Self Control’ is one of my all-time favorites! My parents used to play it all the time when I was a kid, and since Halloween was my favorite holiday I originally thought the song was about Halloween, since she sung about “the creatures of the night.” How naïve of me! Deep in my heart I knew even then that I would one day sing this song on stage, and look at me now Ma!”

The video, shot in an actual New York City sex club, really ups the naughty level that the boys of Naked Highway have been known to dabble in. With guest appearances from adult film star Aleks Buldocek (Raging Stallion), NYC shock rocker Alexcalibur and many more the video is one of the more graphic displays that you may see this year.

When watching it, you can draw direct comparisons to Madonna’s “Erotica” video with the gritty acts of BDSM and acts of raw sexual pleasure. Naked Highway is looking to cause a stir, and they’ll get it! Don’t look to your cable television to see this one because the FCC would be all over its adult content.
