Chicago’s Marina City are making music they love, and they’ve certainly made that clear with their most recent releases of “Addicted” and today’s new track “Strawberry.” The song oozes with dance beats and infectious vocal lines that will leave you no choice but to move your body. Showing musical traces of Prince (that’s the obvious one), Bruno Mars, and even Maroon 5, Marina City have infused their own brand of dance-pop-R&B. And might we add, vocalist Ryan Argast has one mean falsetto. The band partnered with super producer Dino Zisis on their new batch of songs, well known for his work with Lady Gaga, and the high-end production truly does shine through.
“I often wonder what my life would be like if I did the exact opposite of my gut feeling,” vocalist Ryan Argast explains on the new single. “Sometimes it’s just ‘what if I chose the red toothbrush instead of the blue? Would I have picked the winning lotto ticket that day?’ The long answer: Strawberry is about making consequential decisions in the heat of the moment. Short answer: Strawberry is about hooking up with your best friend. Bottom line it’s a fun song about consequences but aren’t there consequences every time you have fun?”
The band will be hitting the road for a stretch of Midwest shows, which can be found below. Check out “Strawberry” and enjoy.
