Amsterdam native songwriter Kita Menari certainly has one of the most inspiring stories we have ever come across, and his prolific and unprecedented songwriting is always something to behold. His latest effort, “Into the Dark,” is a slice of delicious indie-pop heaven. It touches on the meaningless daily routines that we all experience, and ultimately trying to break the pattern.
Since his near-drowning experience in 2017, Kita Menari has focused his musical approach around peace and positivity. The project of songwriter & producer Micha de Jonge was born out of a “dance with death,” when his oxygen tank jammed in a serene lagoon in Malaysia. After barely making it to the surface in time to survive, de Jonge had an immediate new outlook on the world. Following an all-night celebration of newfound life, the young artist woke up to find a handwritten note in his pocket that read “Kita Menari” – “we dance,” in Malay. From that moment on, Kita Menari was his new state of being.
“Into the Dark” is the first song revealed from Kita’s new EP Dreaming All the Time, set for release this November. We look forward to more amazing tunes from one of the best new artists on the map.
