It’s that time of the week again and as anyone expert in the art of FourPlay will tell you, variety is essential to keep the recipient interested. We’d hate for FourPlay to be predictable so among the regular ooh-ings and aah-ings this week we also feature a song that (gasp!) doesn’t have a video….
MIYNT – “Civil War”
We start with Stockholm artist MIYNT who we have loved from the beginning (read our review of debut release Nick Drake here). She keeps the standard up with a new single that you know is brilliant from the first few seconds. Playful and moody, she continues to beguile in her own mysterious, wistful quirky pop way. “Civil War” will be available August 21.
The Zanders – “Until My Body Breaks”
Just a Soundcloud link for this brand new single from The Zanders. It’s good enough not to need a video, its ambient opening building up to an epic Bastille/Jack Penate style singalong. This is the project of Australian Heath Petzold and the single is out August 21 and it has the potential to be massive.
FKA Twigs – M3LL155X
A divisive Artist, so by default we love her, FKA Twigs yesterday released this new video to promote her new EP of the same name. Bat for Lashes style dramatics over skittish Vespertine percussion becomes more sinister and offbeat as time goes on. Revel in the unique.
Agent Fresco – “Wait for me”
An Icelandic band with a male vocalist with a penchant for falsetto? It’s not what you ‘re thinking and “Wait For Me” packs in many twists and turns within its four minutes. Moody, delicate and occasionally proggy in its texture, it’s more Mew than Sigur Ros on the Scandinavia spectrum and it’s taken from the album, Destrier which is out now.
