Catching Up with The Royalty

The Royalty has been doing well since Fourculture first introduced them to its readers.  After successfully releasing their first album on Victory Records and touring it around the country, the band has grown its following to the point that they are gearing up for another round in the studio to record their sophomore LP. The band visited the label’s headquarters to talk about the new record and while there they took the time to record a very intimate video of “Won’t Be Long” from Lovers, their first album.  Victory has shared this video on The Royalty’s VEVO channel on YouTube and it is definitely worth a watch and listen.

For fans of a 50’s-60’s throwback sound, this band continues to be a “must add” to their music collections and this video will be in that catalog.  The guitar riffs and effect that Jesus Apodaca employs in this performance are so signature early rock and roll and he plays it all perfectly.  Even stripped down there is a strength and skill.  As for Nicole, this girl has such stage presence and it has not faded.  Just the opposite.  She internalizes every note and lyric, owns it and then shares those emotions with whoever watches and listens.  I still compare her to early Gwen Stefani, a very passionate female artist who puts her heart on a stage.

The Royalty has a headlining show coming up at Hollywood’s legendary club The Roxy on July 8th.  The show is sponsored by KROQ radio.  They also have some other west coast shows:

7/11- Seattle, WA @ El Corazon
7/13- Portland, OR @ Dante’s
7/14- San Francisco, CA @ Hotel Utah
7/18- San Diego, C @ Soda Bar
7/19- Phoenix, AZ @ Last Exit Live
Then they return home to Texas on July 20th to perform at the El Paso County Coliseum with Mariachi El Bronx.
