But Still Like Dust She Will Rise

I don’t know what took so long to put the spoken word of Maya Angelou together with music. The mellifluous voice of the late Angelou pairs so perfectly with the hip-hop beats along with the R&B background vocals, that I feel it will open a whole new generation to her poetry and message. The first peek we get is an animated lyric video for ‘Still I Rise’ and a taste of what’s to come when the album Caged Bird Songs unleashes on November 4. You can pre-order the CD on Amazon, but while you’re waiting just keep this video on repeat. “Just like hopes springing high still I rise”.
