Bloomsday release “Phase”

Brooklyn duo Bloomsday have announced their forthcoming debut album Place to Land with gorgeously woozy lead single, “Phase”.

The stunning video directed by Gabi Rudin adds a candid intensity to a song about transition and rebirth. Landscapes flicker with low sunlight, complementing the bleary-eyed guitar and dreamy vocals and straddles feelings of togetherness with ominous decay.

Written around the time of what songwriter Iris James Garrison calls an emotionally stagnant time, they say: “Through this song I am trying to express the discomfort of transitions with all of the unknown and unknowable. The lyrics “Stuck in the bad thoughts, talk yourself into knots” shows a dialogue with my anxiety—not trusting that ‘everything will be okay’.”

Initially a solo singer-songwriter, Iris teamed up with Alex Harwood in what they call a brotherly dynamic.  Iris says “He’s seen me through growth, through transitioning, and who I’ve become. It’s a familial feeling.”

Place to Land will be released on 10 June via Bayonet Records.
