Black Sea – welcome escapism from Tiger Lion

As the air gets cooler and the nights get darker you may be hoping for something delicious and unexpected to keep the ears warm.  And “Black Sea”, the new release from French trio Tiger Lion is just the smooth, oddly seductive tonic to satisfy those urges.

Drifting into dreampop territory through the lush vocals of Clémentine Blue, her French and English lyrics are surrounded with abstract, detuned surprises which make the song particularly special.

The pulsing distorted buzz of a synth, the hints of wild raga-influenced strings, a melting pot of ethnic, exotic bliss that simmers with all the elements and passion you’d expect from a tale based on geographical separation and longing.

The song is taken from the forthcoming album, exploring the relationship between bodies and landscapes.

“Black Sea” is out now.

As a lover of music, cats and chocolate it was inevitable that Paul would end up writing for us. A tireless singer/songwriter from the UK with a tiresome number of music projects, his worrying knowledge of the 80s and the evolution of crisps and confectionery (or chips and candy for our US readers) has seen him both gain jobs and lose friends.
