MY FOUR WEEK 17

The month of May is now upon us, and we at Fourculture are continuing to keep you more than well informed about what is hot. You ain’t interested in what is not. So please do allow me, Mark Sharpley, to bring you four more acts that will rock your world. Starting with…….

BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB

First up this week it’s Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and their new release, Live In Paris. And as the title suggests, it is a live album recorded at the Theatre Trianon in Paris on February 24th, 2014. Not only is it a double CD release, the package also includes a DVD of footage from on and off stage. The DVD even won the ‘Best Live Concert Film’ at the 2014 UK Music Video Awards. Live albums are very few and far between these days, so if it’s genuine rock and roll you want to blow the dust off the surround sound speakers, then this is right up your street. Available on the Abstract Dragon Records label, this is, “Let The Day Begin”.  www.blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com

MY MORNING JACKET

Second choice this week comes in the shape of Kentucky rockers My Morning Jacket, and the release of their seventh studio album, The Waterfall. This is the first of two albums to be released between now and 2016, mainly due to the fact that the band had 24 songs available and the option of a double album wasn’t really a good one. On April 1st, the band made the usual prank that people do by putting up a link to the album artwork and the whole album for one day only. But by April 4th, the internet had woven it’s evil web and leaked the whole album anyway. Buy the real thing! Available on the ATO Records label, this is the first single from the album, “Big Decisions”. www.mymorningjacket.com

DJANGO DJANGO

Our third offering this week comes from Django Django, and their new album release, Born Under Saturn. The band are based in London, but they originally met in Edinburgh at the city’s College Of Art before relocating in 2009. They did have to clarify something about the band name in the video for “WOR”, with a simple message of “Our name has nothing to do with Django Reinhardt”. You’d be surprised how many people can get confused. But they have had their work featured on the video games, FIFA 13 and GTA 5 too. Available on the Because Music record label, this is the first single from the album called, “First Light”.  www.djangodjango.co.uk

PALMA VIOLETS

And finally this week, it’s the turn on London’s own Palma Violets and the release of their new studio album, Danger In The Club. Many people may be already familiar with the band, thanks to their first single in 2012 called, “Best Of Friends”. The band gained mass popularity online before the release of that single, and their live shows were multiply uploaded by fans. This lead to the band being signed, and joining the NME Awards tour with the likes of Miles Kane, Django Django and Peace. Oh, and this new piece is produced by legendary producer, John Leckie. Impressive stuff. Available on the Rough Trade Records label, this is the title track of the album, “Danger In The Club”.  www.palmaviolets.co.uk

There you go! Another four more artists that you need to know about, and we at Fourculture will continue to bring you the cream of the crop each week. So stay tuned and keep on keeping on.
